ARTSET-trey

After completing a BA Honours Degree in Creative Arts, in 1995, Pam went on to take an Adult Further Education Teachers Certificate, which enabled her to take Creative Writing Workshops, while still pursuing her interest in the visual arts.

As a visual Artist she takes her inspiration from a wide range of stimuli, be it political, social or environmental, which she has exhibited at various venues. Many of her images have been influenced by the coastline, after moving to the north west of the UK.

Pam finds her work has developed broadly, crossing a wide spectrum of concepts and media. She sometimes likes to take facets of the concept she is working with. This, she feels, by showing parts of the image brings about the works own symmetry, while leaving the text open.

In the portfolio Identity she endeavours to create a portrait through direct contact with the medium, with the resulting image calling into question issues of identity and gender. By transgressing traditional concepts of representation she endeavours to show the lack of these, by rendering the image genderless, fractured and therefore dissolving identity.
